I am Sam (Shuoyu) Chen, a fourth-year Sport Management Ph.D. candidate at the University of Georgia.

My research leverages experiments, surveys, secondary data analysis (panel data econometrics and machine learning), and interviews to examine consumer behavior and engagement with athletes, sporting events, and emerging technologies.

My work has been published in leading sport management journals, including Sport Management Review and European Sport Management Quarterly. Beyond sport management, it also appears in journals such as The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Marketing Intelligence & Planning, and Nature Reviews Bioengineering. My dissertation proposal was recognized with the Louise E. Kindig Research Award.

I hold a Master's degrees in Sport Managment from Columbia University, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine.
